Hi, my name’s Ian! I’m an avid self-taught home cook, content creator, and a massive foodie!
I’m a first generation Filipino-Canadian with a huge passion for food. I fell in love with cooking at the age of nine, where I would watch the Food Network on a daily basis after school, and then going on to re-create whatever I saw in those shows in my own kitchen.
Of course, my parents had an enormous influence on that as well. Growing up, I’d always watch them cook traditional Filipino food and pastries. They loved to explore new restaurants and local-eats in our city, so naturally, food culture became a major part of my upbringing.
Amidst that food journey and along my growth as a creator, I began to see a lack of representation in the West when it came to Filipino cuisine. I mean, yes, we had Jollibee, but I couldn’t help but think how there’s so much more to Filipino food outside of spaghetti and fried chicken (which aren’t Filipino in origin either)!
And so with that thought in mind, my mission to promote Filipino culture and food began. It rekindled a newfound appreciation towards my original roots, and with it, emerged a community of others who also rediscovered the beauty of their own culture through food.
“Kain Tayo!”
My tagline “kain tayo!” is a common phrase that you’ll hear in the Philippines, which means “let’s eat!” in Tagalog. It’s usually used as an invitation to get others to eat with you since food and get-togethers are a huge part of Filipino culture.
Here in this website I share a wide variety of Asian food with a focus on Filipino food. I try to make these recipes as approachable and as accessible as possible so that all of you can have a chance to share and eat these incredible recipes!
As always, thank you for your continued support, I’m eternally grateful.
